In the aftermath of the 2020 election, concerns about the misinformation crisis fueled my thoughts. Enter the "Informed" app—a comprehensive platform offering unbiased political news. While political officials are obligated to disclose their activities, including legislation acts, state of emergency announcements, and campaign donors, the crucial information often gets lost in the convoluted web of outdated government websites plagued by poor information architecture and confusing vocabulary. This app strives to cut through the noise, providing users with a straightforward means to stay informed about the actions of their elected officials, devoid of any opinions.
Elevator Pitch: Political information directly from the source. No opinions, no bias, no bullsh*t.
During the sign-up process, users have the option to input their location, enabling the app to offer personalized recommendations of politicians to follow based on elected officials in their area. As users navigate through the app, this location data becomes a valuable asset, allowing timely reminders about upcoming elections that are relevant to their geographic region. This tailored approach enhances the user experience, fostering a sense of community engagement and civic awareness.
Arguably the most crucial section—those pages users will hurriedly consult just before Thanksgiving to finally outshine their Uncle (I'm projecting). On an official's profile page, users gain access to a comprehensive view, encompassing everything from approval ratings to legislative actions. This feature empowers users with the information they need to engage in informed discussions and assert their perspectives, even in the most challenging family debates.
